Biography of artist John Alcock
influences of other artists, to work clean! GOOD ART is window to the soul
born 26 July 1950 in Walpeup, Victoria , Australia.
I
grew up in the small Mallee town of Walpeup. A early age my parents
shaped my interest in the arts. As a teenager I was further influenced
by the
Impressionists. I was fascinated by the use of colour to create an
illusion of shape and depth. Later I was influenced by Piet Mondrian
with his use of pure colour in a highly disciplined and restrictive
manner to create works of harmony and balance. Now days I try to work
free from the l of the artist, a reflection of the true inner self. It should reflect or be a reflection of community values. For the observer, good art should touch the soul and reflect there!

Statement of art style
My work is fundamentally about the environment ,exploring concepts of time and space .Drawn from the fundamental understanding of our environment . The use of colours, shapes and line to tell us the notion of an object and how it exists in time and space, which responds to levels of perception beyond our every day thought . Your perception may keep flipping from one conceptual dimension to an other. Allowing the viewer to be stimulated into explore the spacial constructs to which they are interact i.e. the shapes may appear to move in time and space or to simply to spin. These works are designed to balance harmoniously on multiply planes at depth at the same time . The whole while held together by a controlled tension inherited with in the work.
